What is Sabaq?

When a child starts to learn how to read the Qur'an it starts from the basics of learning the quranic alphabets and the rules of pronunciation known as Tajweed. Just like with any other educational subject this process also has a book that the child will follow and is usually taught by a teacher. 

A sabaq (homework/lesson) is usually given in small chunks (number of ayahs) to a student. The teacher will read out the sabaq first to the students and the students will repeat. The teacher would mark the student's Qu'ran or Qaida with bookmarkers or colorful stick notes to remember where the sabaq is from, and sometimes the teacher would even write small dates next to the ayah. 

A verbal discussion happens between the teacher and student on the progress or the mistakes the student is making on a given sabaq. The student goes away with all the points and tries to perfect the sabaq until good solid progress is made and the process is repeated until a satisfactory sabaq is given by the student.

During this process, it's hard to remember or track the progress until unless it's been logged. 

Sabaq Diary

The sabaq diary feature will help teachers to keep track of the student's progress for their sabaq. It will summarise the number of sabaq in progress and completed. Each teacher will be able to leave feedback.

The teacher can log each sabaq given to a student and also provide feedback on the progress. The feedback is internal by default and a copy of the same feedback can be emailed to the student's parent if required with a click of a button.

Once the sabaq is completed the teacher can mark it as completed and provide the completion date. All completed sabaq will be shown in the completed tab. The completed date will be shown under the status on the right hand side. 

Parents can also be kept up to date with the feedback the teachers provide. Every time a new sabaq is logged the parent is automatically informed via email.
